Body Fat Calculator -Estimate your body fat percentage
Use this body fat calculator to approximate your body fat percentage...
This calculator uses the formula developed by the U.S. Navy to estimate your body fat percentage without calipers.
Press the Reset 'pencil eraser' icon before inserting your values.
Use a tape measure and enter your waist, hip, and neck measurements.
Combine these measurements with your gender and height, and this calculator will estimate your percent body fat, how much of your weight is lean mass, how much is fat mass, and your general fitness category.
If you place your cursor over the results obtained, you'll see the formulas used to arrive at these numbers.
Note: Hydrostatic weighing or hydrodensitometry as it is sometimes referred to, is still considered the 'gold standard' in the fitness industry.
The water displacement test is the most accurate way to determine body fat percent, but the US Navy or YMCA formula is thought to be accurate to within 1-3% for most people.
Bear in mind that this is just a tool and the results you get are simply rough estimations. I've tried out a number of different calculators and the results vary significantly.
The tool is best used to gauge the progress you make over time rather than making an accurate assessment of your body fat.
