The formula for achieving this is fairly simple.
A lot more simple perhaps, than actually doing it. But it's possible. And if you persist long enough to start seeing results, your motivation will sky rocket and your efforts will seemingly pay off a dozen-fold.
Certainly, nutrition is part of the puzzle-- and we'll explore the critical role nutrition plays in revealing your abdominal muscles.
But great abs and a strong abdominal core is fundamental for good posture, stability, force production, and the necessary balance involved in all forms of human movement.
Some research is also suggestive that a strong abdominal region is beneficial in preventing common low back pain.
So aside from it's aesthetic value, developing a strong core is important in many respects. And a careful selection of exercises are part of the equation.
If you workout from home, you'll appreciate that many abdominal exercises require very little space and no exercise equipment at all.
By far, one of the most common ab exercises performed is the ab 'Crunch', a variation of the Sit-Up. Almost everyone from novice to veteran includes this exercise in their ab workout routine-- sometimes performing hundreds and hundreds of them.
But is this useful? More importantly, should you even be performing the Crunch and so many typical ab exercises often recommended-- at least, initially? This is the subject of our first topic...
